Endgame wraps up Avengers franchise

With 20 films and a myriad of characters, the Marvel Cinematic Universe had a lot to wrap up entering “Avengers: Endgame.”

Luckily, the three hour and two minute film lives up to the hype.

From the start, the film is highly character-based, following the superheroes after the events of “Avengers: Infinity War.”

However, the large character ensemble does not feel thrown together as no main character is glossed over. Characterization is relatively consistent with already established personalities without making them seem stagnant.

While it could be expected that a movie like “Endgame” would have an impermanent setting, preventing viewers from being truly attached, the universe’s reality is quickly established. Even fans aware of upcoming movies are still hooked by the film’s high stakes.

Of course, no Marvel movie is complete without action. Fantastic fight scenes and special effects keep viewers entertained throughout the film’s duration.

“Endgame” represents the end of Phase 3 of the MCU, so it has many loose ends to tie up. It does just this, harkening back to previous films without seeming gratuitous or forced.

It also looks forward, with nods to the MCU’s future and plenty left for fans to speculate about.
