With two boys ranked consistently at the top of the ladder, the boys’ tennis team is expecting nothing but success this spring season.

Senior Jackson Muraika is ranked first in singles, for the third year in a row, while junior Dylan Tull has been ranked second for the past three year. Muraika was also ranked second in his freshman year.

Tull is overcoming an injury from last spring where he broke his wrist after playing in the team’s third match, putting him out for the remainder of the season.

“I’m hoping for a great run by the team and myself individually and I feel like we have a great chance at finishing well league-wise and district-wise,” said Tull.

The team has a record of 6-1 so far this season, only losing their first match against Dallastown. Muraika has set a goal of winning the district title to top off his senior year.

“I try to set an example of how to work hard on the court and also be a gracious competitor,” said Muraika. “I make sure to encourage everyone on the team and offer advice when I can.”

Ranked third on the team is Muraika’s younger brother, freshman Garrett.

“It feels good to be ranked so high because all of the work I’ve put into the game has finally payed off,” said Garrett Muraika.

The brothers have played doubles together, and Jackson Muraika has also played doubles with Tull this season.

“I feel like I’ve achieved something big being close to his [Jackson’s] rank and having a difference in grade and age but I also feel pressured to be playing with him and playing as well as him,” said Garrett Muraika.
