Honor Society prepares for senior dance

Dancing is a long loved pastime that many enjoy. Dances take much preparation along with long hours of planning and work.

The National Honors Society will be hosting its annual Senior Dinner Dance (formerly called Senior Senior Prom) April 5 in the Cafeteria. The theme of the dance this year is “down by the seashore.”

“Hallie Koslowski and I did a project that was kind of Hawaiian themed,” said senior Rachel Batra, the events coordinator for NHS. “We had a lot of fun with that and thought it would be better to make it even bigger.”

The theme was chosen by NHS secretary senior Hallie Koslowski and Batra. The decorations are being made and stored in room 207, Shannon Reisch’s room.

“My room has been taken over by palm trees and surf boards,” said Reisch. “We’re just about finished with the decorations.”

All of the decorations will follow the Hawaiian theme. The tables will be decorated with seashells, and all volunteers are going to wear leis.

NHS students as well as Key club members have been meeting in room 207 on Wednesdays to help create and paint the decorations.

“We have student musicians performing, and then a professional band later in the evening,” said Batra. “It’s always a fun time.”

The dance will start with hors d’oeuvres and then proceed to dinner and dancing. NHS members who wish to perform should sign up in room 314.

“I think it’s a good event for people in our district to come together,” said Koslowski. “I’ve heard from people that this is one of the highlights of their year. It just makes me happy and proud of all the work we put into it.”

Anyone over the age of 65 living in the Cornwall Lebanon School District is able to attend for free. To attend they must contact and RSVP to Amy Wissinger in the business office.

“It has been a lot of work but it’s a fun way to give back,” said Batra. “Everyone has pitched in and I think it will all come together very nicely.”
